Did you know that the environmental impact of today’s shoe industry is the equivalent of 450,000 round-trip flights from Paris to New York?
Making one pair of shoes requires large amounts of raw materials as well as many hours of labor and high shipping costs, especially given that subcontractors are located primarily in faraway Asia and Latin America.
Once we became aware of these facts, we made up our minds to change our work methods and we scaled back the figures to our own local level. We believe that we can positively contribute to rectifying the situation in our sector by manufacturing all of our collections in Europe, specifically in France and Italy, two nations with stellar reputations for excellence in shoemaking.
Local Production
We have always operated with the aim to have the smallest environmental footprint from our collections’ raw materials, design, and production. We have reduced trucking and shipping by working with local artisans. This has a positive impact on each local economy and a low impact on the environment.
An Environmentally-Friendly Practice
By producing our sneakers, sandals, and espadrilles in France, we have divided our carbon imprint by three. 6 KG CO2 before recycling our sneakers (2 KG CO2 after recycling) compared to the average of 18 KG CO2.
Our leathers all come from the food industry and from hides recuperated from the leather makers, a guarantee of recycled raw materials.
Our leathers are produced in southwestern France and in the Marche region of Italy. Our Italian full-grain leather comes from the Mastrotto tannery, known for its excellence. Mastrotto is part of the GREEN L.I.F.E. project and has a gold certification from the Leather Working Group, an independent organization that evaluates tanneries’ environmental practices. Mastrotto is recognized as one of the best-ranked tanneries for its methods in treating hides.

We put great effort into designing our shoes so that they can be easily repaired or else disassembled when worn out, and thus become raw material once again for new products.
Une production locale
Notre mode de fonctionnement a toujours été le circuit court, aussi bien dans l’approvisionnement de nos matières premières que pour la conception et la production des collections. Peu de transport et nous ne travaillons qu’avec des artisans locaux.
Ainsi nous favorisons une économie locale positive à faible impact écologique.
Une pratique écologique
En produisant en France nos sneakers, sandales et espadrilles, nous divisons par 3 notre empreinte carbone.
6 KG CO2 avant recyclage pour nos baskets (2 KG CO2 après recyclage) contre 18 KG CO2 en moyenne.
Nos cuirs, tous issus des déchets de l’industrie alimentaire et de la récupération des peausseries assurent le recyclage de matière première.
Nos cuirs sont soit français, produits dans les tanneries des Pyrénées-Atlantiques et du Béarn, soit italiens de la région des Marches. Le cuir pleine fleur vient de la tannerie Mastrotto (Italie), connue pour son excellence. Mastrotto fait partie du projet GREEN L.I.F.E et est certifié Gold par le Leather Working Group, une organisation indépendante qui évalue les pratiques environnementales des tanneries. Mastrotto est connu comme l’une des tanneries ayant mis en place les meilleures pratiques du secteur de la peausserie.
Circulaire
Nous travaillons assidûment pour que chacune de nos chaussures produites soit conçue pour pouvoir, une fois en fin de vie, être réparée ou démontée afin de redevenir la matière première d’un nouveau produit.
